Welcome to the Pasadena Library Media Center!
sun  Welcome to Summer Reading, 2014! sun
As the last day of school marks the beginning of summer vacation, the Plainview-Old Bethpage School District is excited to kick off a district-wide elementary summer reading program. Summer reading provides a great way for children to learn new things, explore topics of interest, and feed their curiosity over the vacation months.  Studies show summer reading helps maintain reading skills learned during the school year, increase vocabulary and reading fluency. It also helps develop a child’s background and general knowledge. We encourage your family’s participation in our program as well as the summer reading program at the Plainview-Old Bethpage Public Library and the NYS Summer Reading at New York Libraries.
Below you will find links to recommended reading lists and a postcard activity for your child to complete. The activity listed below is a fun way to celebrate and share our reading experiences. All postcards will be posted in September. Be sure to be included!

As a special incentive, each participating child will receive a wristband, and the class in each grade with the most participation will receive a special prize!

The POB Public Library also runs a great summer reading program. Please encourage your child to support their elementary school by taking part in this great program. The school with the highest participation wins a huge box of new books for their school library and a trophy to display for the year. Visit the POB Public Library to sign up!
