During the month of October, the Health Education Department
coordinated with several groups to raise money for Breast Cancer.

Our first effort to raise awareness to Breast Cancer, started with Lee Jeans.  The department ran a district wide fund raiser through all the elementary and secondary schools.  We totaled $1040.00 by October 5, 2012, the National Lee Denim Day.  JFKHS YAC club raised $369.00 giving the district a total of $1409.00.

Mattlin Middle Schools Health Education Department and the Guidance Department partnered with the American Cancer Society and sold pink ribbons that students placed on a “Tree of Hope”.  The departments also raised money by raffling off three beautiful baskets that were donated by the American Cancer Society and book bags that were donated by a cosmetic company.

This year’s efforts raised a total of $1781.00 for Breast Cancer Awareness.
